Climate Change and Mathematics

These are resources for S4+ students. They give an overview of how Mathematics can help us to study and analyse Climate Change, and work to protect our planet.

Climate Change is one of the biggest issues that we are currently facing, but did you know that there is actually a lot of maths behind it?  Check out these resources to see some of the number crunching that Climate Scientists do in their fight to save our planet!

This resource pack contains a Power Point presentation and a lesson plan, to be used by teachers as they see fit. You can find such documents by clicking on the links below.

The resources were produced by Mary O'Brien, under the supervision of Francesca Iezzi.

Compatibly with our resources and capacity, we would be very happy to run online workshops for Scottish schools on the topic. If you would like us to run a workshop in your school, please contact Dr Francesca Iezzi at francesca.iezzi@ed.ac.uk.

Give us feedback

We would be really grateful if, after using the resources, you could spend a few minutes to give us some feedback. This will help us to evaluate these resouces, and to plan and develop appropriate resources in the future.  Please click on the above link to access our feedback survey.
