EPSRC Postdoctoral Fellowships are available in the following thematic areas: Intradisciplinary Research; New Connections from Mathematical Sciences; Mathematical Aspects of Operational Research; Continuum Mathematics and Advanced Materials in Mathematical Sciences; Statistics and its Interfaces (advised submission dates early February and late July).
NERC Independent Research Fellowships are designed to develop scientific leadership among the most promising early-career environmental scientists. Deadline usually September/October.
STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships are for researchers with clear leadership potential to establish a strong, independent research programme. Deadline usually late September.
UKRI Future Leaders Fellowships will grow the strong supply of talented individuals needed to ensure a vibrant environment for research and innovation in the UK. The scheme is open to researchers and innovators from across business, universities, and other organisations.
Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships fund researchers looking to enhance their career development and prospects by working abroad. Deadline usually September.
Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowships aim to provide career development opportunities for those who are at a relatively early stage of their academic careers, but who have a proven record of research. Deadline usually February.
Royal Society University Research Fellowships are for outstanding candidates who have between 3-8 years of research experience post PhD and have the potential to become research leaders in their field. Deadline usually September.
Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships offer a recognised first step into an independent research career for outstanding scientists and engineers at an early stage of their research career who require a flexible working pattern due to personal circumstances, such as parenting or caring responsibilities or health issues. Deadline usually October/November.
Daphne Jackson Fellowships offer professionals working in STEM and related disciplines the opportunity to return to research following a career break of two years or more when taken for family, caring or health reasons.
Biometrika Research Fellowships are for junior researchers in statistical theory and methodology. Deadline usually March.
Newton International Fellowships provide opportunites for the best early stage postdoctoral researchers from all over the world to work at UK research institutions for two years. Deadline usually March.
RSE Personal Research Fellowships aim to provide outstanding researchers with the opportunity to build an independent research career. Applicants must have 2-6 years of postdoctoral experience (scheme currently closed).
Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Research Fellowships are intended to give early-career scientists of exceptional promise an opportunity to conduct a research project of their own instigation. Deadline usually October/November.
Stephen Hawking Fellowships focus on a range of disciplines in the area of theoretical physics with the aim of reflecting Stephen Hawking’s work in bringing science into popular culture. Applicants must have either a PhD or 4+ years' experience in a relevant field prior to the start of the fellowship. No current closing date.
