How to get to Edinburgh

By plane

Edinburgh International Airport serves many UK and international cities.

There are three options to get to the city centre:

  • Airlink 100: this is a shuttle bus which departs right outside the terminal and arrives at South St David Street, next to Waverley station
  • Tram: the tram stop is outside the terminal and the stop next to Waverley station is called "St Andrews Square"
  • Taxi: outside the terminal (in case the driver needs directions, the nearest entrance to the main reception is on Holyrood Park Road).

The shuttle bus and the tram take about the same time (25-35 minutes), cost about the same (8-9 GBP), have the same frequency (every 10 minutes), and arrive at almost the same location. The price for a taxi is around 25-35 GBP.

By train

Edinburgh's main train station is called Waverley Station and is well connected to most UK cities. There are direct half-hourly connections between London and Edinburgh with LNER.
