In March 2004 there was a surreal event at the Houses of Parliament,
London, where 'young scientists', including me, exhibited
posters, while a collection of the distinguished - old
scientists, educationalists, MPs - wandered round looking at the
posters, asking us questions, and otherwise distracting us from
our vain attempts to stay nourished on
thumbnail-sized canapés.
Here is my poster: life-size and smaller. Ken Clarke stopped and read it for a while, but Michael Portillo breezed straight past without a second glance. His loss.
