Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship awarded to Ruth King
Ruth King has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowship entitled 2Statistical Ecology: Modern Challenges of Quantity and Quality'. In the many ways that computers have revolutionised statistical tools used to analyse data, technological advances are revolutionising the ecological data collection processes producing larger datasets and higher quality data. The exponential speed of the technological advances has, to date, outstripped the necessary statistical techniques for analysing the data. This project will focus on two particular challenges: (i) the quantity of data due to the availability of cheap technological devices; and (ii) the quality of data from new technology with a particular focus on motion-sensor spatial capture-recapture surveys (one of the fastest growing widely usedwildlife survey method).
