Official Launch of the Scottish Financial Risk Academy

Maths venture to help banks cut risks

On Thursday, 4th November, the Inaugural Risk Colloquium of the Scottish Financial Risk Academy (SFRA) took place in central Edinburgh (Bryce Hall, The Mound). The SFRA was established in 2010 by the University of Edinburgh and Heriot Watt University, through their joint research institute, The Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences with a £335,000 grant from the Scottish Funding Council. The academy is the first academic-industry partnership in the UK to address quantitative financial risk management. The SFRA director's speech can be found here:
