Ofgem Strategic Innovation Fund projects announced

Energy regulator Ofgem and Innovate UK have announced a £5.8 million package to fund feasibility studies for 44 new energy projects as round three of the Ofgem Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) gets underway.

We are delighted to announce that both Dr Lars Schewe and Prof Chris Dent have been successful in receiving project funding and will be working on the following projects (respectively):

  • Realistic modelling of power-to-gas operability: Developing a network of models simulating the operation of decarbonised future GB energy system scenarios, to support operational decision making. In partnership with National Gas.
  • Network Security in a Quantum Future: Investigating the quantum threat to the energy system's cybersecurity, helping the industry to understand the actual threat from state actors, organised crime, and other threats, and enabling mitigation strategies to be developed. In partnership with National Grid ESO.
