ICBS Frontiers of Science Awards 2023
Dr Jonathan Hickman, in collaboration with Dr Larry Guth of MIT and former UoE PhD student Marina Iliopoulou, has been awarded a Frontier of Science Award (FSA) for his 2019 paper - Sharp estimates for oscillatory integral operators via polynomal partitioning - in the Fourier Analysis and Harmonic Analysis category.
In addition, Dr Ben Davison, in collaboration with Dr Sven Meinhardt (UoBonn), has been awarded the same FSA for his 2020 paper - Cohomological Donaldson-Thomas theory of a quiver with potential and quantum enveloping algebras - in the Homological Algebra, K-Theory, and Noncommutative Algebra category.
Dr Jan Sbierski was also awarded a FSA for his 2018 paper - The C^0-inextendibility of the Schwarzschild spacetime and the space-like diameter in Lorentzian geometry - in the General Relativity category.
The International Congress for Basic Science (ICBS) honours research outputs with outstanding scholarly value and selects papers from 34 areas of the 3 basic science field respresented at the ICBS (mathematics, theoretical physics, and theoretical computer and information sciences). Read more here.
The School offers their congratulations to Dr Hickman, Dr Davison, and Dr Sbierski.
