HiGHS in MATLAB

With its R2024a release (20/03/24) MATLAB now uses HiGHS as the default linear programming (LP) and mixed-integer programming (MIP) solvers. Congratulations to the HiGHS team for this latest development!

HiGHS has been developed by Julian Hall and Ivet Galabova, built on solvers written by PhD students supervised by Julian Hall and Jacek Gondzio, and is the world's best open-source linear optimization software. It also provides the default LP and MIP solvers in SciPy, and the MIP solver in the NAG library. Essential to the development of an open energy modelling ecosystem, HiGHS has attracted £420k in philanthropic donations.
