Title: Geometry and mechanics in dimension $2\dfrac{1}{2}$. Tadashi Tokieda (Cambridge) This is about, well, geometry and mechanics of paper (as in actual material paper), which partake of constraints of 2D but of freedom of 3D. I will explain all the concepts unfamiliar to topologists, and keep the story accessible to say clever undergraduates. Several open questions should interest topologists. I will also bring a bag of toys. These I can show informally while in Edinburgh, over tea, dinner, etc. Again there are open problems (less accessible than the ones about paper) that should interest topologists.
