Weiglhofer Symposium on
Electromagnetic Theory

18-19 July 2022

Edinburgh, Scotland

Werner S. Weiglhofer, formerly Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Glasgow, died in a mountaineering accident in January, 2003. Among his notable research contributions rank the delineation of magnetic instabilities in rotating plasmas; the development of scalar Hertz potentials and Green functions for bianisotropic materials; wave propagation in structurally chiral materials, such as certain sculptured thin films; and homogenization of linear and nonlinear particulate composite materials. But for the fateful accident, he would have been 60 years old in 2022.
