Ruth Reynolds

I am a third year PhD student at the University of Edinburgh working under the supervison of Sue Sierra. I'm a member of the Algebra and Number Theory research group in the Hodge Institute.
Before joining Edinburgh in September 2016, I studied for an MMath at the University of Manchester.
My research interests lie in the interactions between noncommutative ring theory and algebraic geometry. I am currently studying idealiser subrings and their noetherianity.

Organisational Roles

In 2016-17, I was the First Year Postgraduate Representative for the School of Mathematics. This involved attending meetings and gathering opinions and feedback from fellow first year students particularly about SMSTC.

In 2017-18, I was one of the co-organisers for the Hodge club Hodge Club, which is a seminar for Hodge Institute graduate students and postdocs.

In 2018-19, I will continue in this role and also co-organise the Glasgow Edinburgh Algebra Research Student seminar (GEARS) which is an informal meeting between algebra PhD students and postdocs from Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt, and Glasgow universities.
