Biographical Statement

I was born in Edinburgh and grew up in Australia. After undergraduate study at Sydney University I obtained my PhD. at the University of Cambridge. Subsequently I held a Fellowship ay Corpus Christi College (Cambridge) and then postdoctoral positions at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Durham University before coming to Edinburgh in 1990.
