MIGSAA Graduate School Launch

On Wednesday 25th February, the official launch of the EPSRC/SFC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT), the Maxwell Institute Graduate School in Mathematical Analysis and its Applications (MIGSAA) will take place here in Edinburgh.

MIGSAA represents a £4.5M investment by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Scottish Funding Council, together with the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University under the aegis of the Maxwell Institute for Mathematical Sciences. This CDT is the flagship for the future of research postgraduate education in Mathematics in Scotland. It will train upwards of 60 PhD students over 5 yearly intakes in this area of vital importance to the Scottish and UK economies. The needs of both academia and industry are being addressed.

We are fortunate to have secured the agreement of two very distinguished keynote speakers for the afternoon, Professor Keith Ball of the University of Warwick and Professor David Abrahams of the University of Manchester. David is also the current Scientific Director of Edinburgh's International Centre for Mathematical Sciences and Keith is its immediate past Scientific Director.

The event will run from 2pm and will close with a reception after the talks at around 5.30 p.m. All are welcome at this event – for full details and to sign up please see https://www.eventbrite.com/e/migsaa-launch-tickets-15352449590
