Researchers win grants totalling over £1M

The School of Mathematics would like to congratulate Arend Bayer and Milena Hering on their recent success in winning grants to develop their ideas in algebraic geometry.

Arend Bayer has been awarded a European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant worth £1.09M for the project "Wall-crossing and birational geometry". Two postdocs and two PhD students will also work on this project.

Milena Hering has been awarded an EPSRC first grant of £125,000 for the project "Positivity properties of toric line bundles and tropical divisors". One postdoc will also work on this project.
