School of Mathematics

School's first MOOC launched

On Wednesday 11th January, the School of Mathematics launched its first ever Massive Open Online Course, Statistics: Unlocking the World of Data. This free, six-week, fully-online course provides a gentle and engaging introduction to statistics, and targets a wide audience, from secondary school pupils to academics, and from keen adult learners to professionals handling data at work. Over 7500 people, from over 160 countries, have signed up to take the course, and many are already engaging with the course content, which consists of videos, interactive applets, practical activities and quizzes, as well as text. The course was created by School of Mathematics staff Mairi Walker, Ruth King and Chris Sangwin, and is supported by teaching assistants Sabrina Chang and Valentina Assi. You can sign up to take the course here.
