Chancellor's Fellowships available

The School of Mathematics is seeking highly talented academics who will contribute to our continued achievement of excellence in research.

This tenure-track Fellowship is held for 5 years. Subject to satisfactory review at the end of year 3, the Fellow will then move to a standard University academic open-ended contract. It is anticipated that most appointees will be successful in obtaining an open-ended contract. (Chancellor's Fellowship Review Guidance).

Applications should be in one of the following two areas:

The Mathematics of Data Science

Candidates will have an existing track record of high-quality research in an area related to data science, primarily from mathematics, statistics, or operational research. The School of Mathematics is a partner in the Alan Turing Institute, a major UK initiative that will drive research and investment in the discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to have significant involvement with the Institute.

Industrial Mathematics

Candidates will have a track record of research in the mathematical sciences with demonstrable impact on industry or business. Candidates will have established links, experience of successful collaborative work in an industrial or business environment, and a strong desire for furthering this engagement. The selection criteria will involve the candidate's scientific excellence, capacity to contribute to knowledge exchange, and track record in obtaining external funding for such projects.
