This talk will review the GB blackout event of 9 August, including both the timeline as known so far, and the extent to which the system responded as expected to the loss of generation infeed. It will conclude with discussion of issues which may be considered in the later stages of investigation, including methodological issues which will be encountered in assessing risk of such events and how this feeds into decision analysis.
