Optimal scheduling in future power systems
Wednesday 28 March 2018 at 15.00, JCMB 6206

Abstract

Decarbonisation of GB electricity system is expected to be achieved by the integration of large share of RES. However, the variability, uncertainty and limited inertia capability associated with RES impose significantly challenges on the efficient operation of future power systems. This talk will focus on the application of MPC-based stochastic optimization approach and the development of pseudo-dynamic frequency stability constraints to optimally schedule the operation of future power systems, simultaneously covering from second-by-second frequency stability domain to hour-by-hour reserve adequacy domain. The challenges and solutions to the implementation of the proposed model will be discussed.
