Profile

About

I am a PhD student in algebraic geometry at the University of Edinburgh, working under the supervision of Arend Bayer. My second supervisor is Johan Martens.
After completing my Master's in Mathematical Physics at the University of Amsterdam, I started my PhD in Edinburgh in September 2014.
As such, I'm a member of the Geometry and Topology research group in the Hodge Institute.

My interest lie in complex algebraic geometry, studied through the looking glass of derived categories of (quasi-)coherent sheaves.
Lately, I have been thinking about applications of these methods to problems of curve-counting on Calabi-Yau threefolds.
This uses Joyce's motivic Hall algebra, a topic I have been interested in since my Master's thesis in geometric representation theory.

In the academic year 2015/2016 I have been co-organising the student-run Geometry Club together with fellow PhD student Igor Krylov.
As of September 2016, the Geometry club morphed into the Hodge Club, broadening its horizon.
Furthermore, I was one of the two PostGraduate representatives of the School of Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.
