Current work

I am a birational geometer. I am interested in Fano varieties, minimal model program techniques, birational rigidity, toric varieties and log canonical thresolds.

At the moment I am studying the relation in between the log canonical thresholds of two fibrations of Del Pezzos with isomorphic generic fibre and their birational rigidity. This implies finding obstructions for effective log pairs to be log canonical.

On my second year, after changing projects and supervisors, I learned about birational geometry in low dimensions and log canonical thresholds on fano varieties. As a result I computed the log canonical thresholds of Del Pezzo surfaces algebraically (i.e. valid over characteristic p) in this pre-print. Over complex Del Pezzo this had previously been done by Cheltsov. This is somehow related to the computation of F-pure thresholds and K-stability.

In my first year I had to take some courses. The rest of the time I learnt basic Algebraic Geometry as well as Toric Varieties and their applications to String Theory. You can have a look at my first year report, which is a survey on that material.

Conferences/Seminars organised

In June 2013 I will host the LMS Lecture Series. These will be given by Prof Fedor Bogomolov with Gavin Brown, Ivan Cheltsov and Timothy Logvninenko as support lecturers.

Together with my office mates I ran in 2010-2011 the Geometry Club

In February 2009 I organised the SMSTC Seminar Series 2009/2010.
