English for the Deaf
A Comprehensive Course of Written English
An Overview
Masaryk University Support Centre for Students with Special Needs is developing a course of English focused on reading and writing skills of pre-lingually hearing impaired students. The first out of the course's three modules is targeted at lower intermediate learners and reviews basic grammar and vocabulary of closed word classes. The second module aims at enriching students' general purpose vocabulary. The third module focuses on general academic vocabulary and texts from individual students' fields of interest. The final version of course materials is scheduled for a release in the third quarter of 2007. Funding of the European Social Fund under contract CZ.04.1.03/3.2.15.1./0146 is gratefully acknowledged.
