Welcome to the home page of the Analysis Group at the University of Edinburgh. Analysis is part of the Pure Mathematics group at Edinburgh which consistently over the last 12 years has been ranked in the top 5 UK departments in Research Assessment Exercises (2001 and 2008).

We work in many areas of analysis, including partial differential equations, harmonic analysis, probability, stochastic analysis and dynamical systems. Of particular interest to us is the interface between harmonic analysis and other areas such as PDE, number theory, discrete mathematics and combinatorics, and geometry (convex and affine geometry, and geometric measure theory).

We are part of the analysis group of the Maxwell Institute, a joint institute comprising the mathematics research activities of ourselves and Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.

The Maxwell Analysis group has been awarded £3.4 M by the EPSRC Science and Innovation programme to create a Centre for Analysis and Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations. Several appointments, have been made and there is an ongoing programme of workshops, instructional conferences and international conferences over the next few years as part of this activity.
