Wallisis a KETF funded project under the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council (SHEFC) in order to develop ICT teaching and self-assessment material to assist in the teaching of non-specialist courses in mathematics. These are important courses, which the School of Mathematics offers, in that they provide necessary skills to engineers and physical scientists.

The system is named after James Wallis, the great mathematician of the 17th century but it also stands for a Web-based Assistant for Learning; an on-Line Intelligent System. The system is still under development but students are constanly using stable versions on their own free time as a support for the lectures and tutorials.
