Each year the School of Mathematics takes a group of third year mathematics students to the Firbush Point Field Centre on the banks of Loch Tay.
The group spend a few days away from the lecture room, engaging in a mixture of outdoor pursuits and mathematical activities. At Firbush it is possible to learn how to sail or windsurf, to kayak or canoe across Loch Tay or to take a mountain-bike trail through the forest. You can also cycle the few miles in to Killin and relax in a coffee shop!

More information about Firbush can be found on the Centre for Sport and Exercise website
Edinburgh MathSoc is run by Edinburgh University maths students. It has two main functions, academic and social. It runs a programme of popular lectures and organises many social events throughout the year including pub quizzes and film screenings.
