For each degree programme we offer, there are some compulsory courses and some options. Unless you are following an accelerated programme and taking direct entry to second year, you will normally take courses outside mathematics for half your load in Year 1 and about one third in Year 2. It is also possible to take 20 points (out of a total for the year of 120 points) of outside courses in later years. Students doing Combined Honours Degrees will usually find that their curriculum is filled by their two principal subjects and fewer outside courses will be possible.
The compulsory courses and available course choices for students currently on degree programmes controlled by the School of Mathematics is available here in the University Degree Specifications. The list of available mathematics options in the later years will give you a good idea of the large range of topics that feature in our programmes.
