Topology at the Tate Modern

As part of the Tate Modern's series of events about topology, two of the world’s leading mathematicians are coming together for a conversation exploring mathematics and topology on Saturday 2nd June. Edinburgh's very own Sir Michael Atiyah and France's Cédric Villani will be holding the debate after a screening of Au Bonheur des Maths; a film by Raymond Depardon and Claudine Nougaret, commissioned by the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris for their seminal exhibition Mathematics, A Beautiful Elsewhere. The film simply yet powerfully portrays nine mathematicians (including Atiyah and Villani) who explain their passion for mathematics. More information about the event is available on the Tate Modern website: http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-modern/talks-and-lectures/mathematics-beautiful-elsewhere.
