Public lecture series celebrating Maths for Planet Earth 2013

This Autumn/Winter there will be a series of three public lectures by researchers/mathematicians based at the University of Edinburgh and at Heriot-Watt University. These lectures will celebrate Maths for Planet Earth 2013 and are being organised and hosted by ICMS. The talks will be aimed at those aged 16+ and open to all regardless of background, and will each be followed by a reception.

1) Tuesday 16 October, 6pm, Tom Leinster (University of Edinburgh), "The Mathematics of Biodiversity".

2) Thursday 21 November, 6pm, Jonathan Sherratt (Heriot-Watt University), "History-Dependence and Tipping Points in Patterns of Whole Ecosystems.

3) Tuesday 10th December, Julia Collins (University of Edinburgh) and Madeleine Shepherd (ICMS), "Botanica Mathematica - a textile taxonomy of mathematical plants".
