Mondays, 11.10am–12.40pm, Room 4312, starting 22nd January (NOTE CHANGE OF DAY/TIME)
Prof. Constantin Teleman will be teaching an 8-lecture
PG course on the geometric Langlands correspondence
over C. It will focus on the
classical ingredients of the correspondence, namely
coherent sheaves, Fourier-Mukai transform, moduli of
Higgs bundles and the Hitchin system, as well as
D-modules and the relation to loop groups. Time
permitting, we will review the new ideas in the work
of Witten, Kapustin and Gukov.
Notes
(Available only from Edinburgh University machines).
Prof. José Figueroa-O’Farrill will be teaching a 6-lecture PG course on the homological approach to symplectic reduction (a.k.a. BRST cohomology). It is expected there will be two lectures per week in weeks 1–3 of the first semester.
Wednesdays, 2pm–4pm, Room 4312
Dr. Ivan Cheltsov will be teaching a PG course on algebraic surfaces following the book of Beauville Complex algebraic surfaces with an additional source http://arxiv.org/abs/alg-geom/9602006. A little is supposed to be known. The class will meet once a week for 2 hours.
Thursdays, 9.30am–11am, Room 4312, starting week 3
