published Thursday, 21 February 2013

Eric Hall, a PhD student in Probability and Stochastic Analysis, received the prize for the best talk at the 6th Oxford University SIAM Student Chapter Conference on 15 February. The short talk, entitled Higher order spatial approximations for degenerate parabolic SPDEs, concerned sufficient conditions for accelerating the rate of convergence of spatial approximations for stochastic partial differential equations with applications to the nonlinear filtering theory. We congratulate Eric on this achievement!

The Oxford University student chapter of SIAM, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, is one of the largest student chapters worldwide.
