Martin Takác, a PhD student in Operational Research and Optimization, was successful in the INFORMS
Computing Society Student Paper Award Competition. As the
sole runner-up, he won the 2nd prize with the paper Iteration Complexity
of Randomized Block-Coordinate Descent Methods for Minimizing a
Composite Function, co-authored with Peter Richtarik.
