The Chippendale problem
Chippendale plc is a furniture business which makes tables and chairs.
- Each table yields a profit of £10 and requires one hour of
assembly and one hour of finishing.
- Each set of chairs yields a profit of £25 and requires two
hours of assembly and four hours of finishing.
- The number of hours of assembling and finishing which are available per week are 80 and 120 respectively.
Assuming that Chippendale plc can sell all the furniture that is
produced, how many tables and sets of chairs should be manufactured
per week in order to maximize its profit?
