NotesAfter some motivation, we will define Sobolev spaces and look at a few simple properties.

It has been proved by Quilodran and others that, if L is a set of L lines in R^d, d>=2, and J is the set of joints formed by these lines, then |J| <= c_d L^(d/(d-1)), for some constant c_d depending only on d. Using the Guth-Katz recently introduced polynomial method of dividing R^3 in cells, we will seek improvements of this result in 3 dimensions, when taking the multiplicity of each joint into account.
