The talk will review recent developments in OR to deal with some of the most critical operational and infrastructural problems in airports. Three different problems involving both short-term and long-term planning and management of airport operations and the related infrastructure will be introduced. Existing approaches from the literature on these problems will be briefly reviewed, including Queueing Theory, Discrete Event Simulation, Stochastic Programming and Stochastic Optimal Control. Results from work carried out in collaboration with airports and airlines in the UK in the period 2009-2013 will be presented.
